I have tried to find the words to describe this sense absurd

I'm a collector, aquiring stuff is probably my top skill in life. My family say that I'm a hoarder, but I'm not, I just like to surround myself with things that I like. My life is one big assemblage/nest, like living inside one of Joseph Cornell's boxes. I thought I would start sharing some collections on my blog, as a way of documenting them.

I'm starting with CDs, quite a normal thing to collect and I know I don't have that many. But I love CDs and I think it will be sad if they die out as many people are predicting. There's something special about having a physical copy of an album.

Florence and the Machine - Lungs // Between Two Lungs // Ceremonials // MTV Unplugged // How Big How Blue How Beautiful

Paramore - All We Know is Falling // The Final Riot! // Brand New Eyes // Paramore

Björk - Debut // Homogenic // Selmasongs (in the wrong case when I bought it) // Biophilia Live // Vulnicura

Avril Lavigne - Let Go // Under My Skin // The Best Damn Thing

Of Monsters and Men - My Head is an Animal // Beneath The Skin // The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness // Adore // Portishead - Dummy // Third

Flyleaf - Flyleaf // Rhodes - Wishes // Marmozets - The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets // London Grammar - If You Wait //  Imogen Heap - Sparks // Beth Croft - Rule in My Heart // Haim - Days Are Gone (this is my sister's CD actually oops) // Lana Del Rey - Born To Die // Nirvana - Nevermind // Kate Bush - Never For Ever // Ellie Goulding - Lights // Vicky Beeching - Eternity Invades

Marilyn Monroe -La Legende // Brought into Being - The Game (half my sister's) // Hannah Atkins - Falling // Kate Nash - Made of Bricks // The Dreamers // Katy Perry - Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection // Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground // Shakira - Oral Fixation, Vol.2 // Dolly Parton - The Hits // La Roux - La Roux

These are obviously just the actual CDs, I have some more music on iTunes just because often it works out cheaper. I would say about half of my CDs are second hand.

The title lyric is from Magic Doors by Portishead. Their album Third was the most recent CD I got, it's really good.

P.S. I kind of feel like I'm celebrating materialism, but I just like music ok. The most important things in life aren't things, obviously.

  1. omg I'm so jel, you've got some sick albums! Some of the albums/collections by one artist reflect a period of time when I had a full on faze with that type of music. For example my Paramore faze, Avril faze, Florence and the Machine faze, Lana faze, Nirvana faze and HAIM faze. So strange how music can dominate sections of the past. Cool post! <3

  2. I would be so sad if CDs died out!!! There IS something special about just being able to hold such a beautiful piece of work. Sometimes the artwork just makes it all worth it, y'know!! I also have a ton and just love collecting them, they're too great to not have around. You've got some good albums in your hands!!!
