You wanted my heart but I just liked your tattoos

I've been so super busy recently! This is the first time I've been free to update le blog since starting my course. I'm doing an Art and Design Foundation so I'm pretty much living the dream but it's also hard work. I love it, everyone there is so talented which is really inspiring and they are probably the nicest bunch of people I've ever met. I'm kind of liking the new routine as well, yep leaving the house at 7am is growing on me, truly appreciating sunrises right now. I've never had to take the bus before so even that is an adventure, I've got a little notebook for bus doodles and everything.

Today we handed in our first project (!!!) so it's pretty exciting to be finished with that and to start something new, beginning with a London trip next week. Here's some stuff I've done so far:

Book binding

Perspective drawing

Printmaking

Garment manipulation (upcycling)

Silk screen printing

Surface pattern design

Crosshatching

Felting

Machine embroidery/collage

...and loads more, we've done so much work, seriously. I've never been so productive in my life. Now is the stressful and scary part of making decisions about university next year, I don't know if I'd be better off as a more illustrative fine artist or a more fine art based illustrator??? Plus, where do I go??? hElp !! !

In other news, I saw Rhodes, supported by JP Cooper and Amy Yon, a couple of weeks ago which was amazing. My friend and I went straight from college so we had to bring our bags with us (which some drunk ladies tripped on lol), and we got to meet him afterwards!! He is soo cute. You should definitely give his album a listen, it's quite chilled out and soothing I guess, with some big emotional build-ups (technical term right there) and really tender lyrics and I'm not good at explaining my feels but it's very good.

The totally cool Victory from Vogue Escapade tagged me in the Tag You're It! thing, thank you girl! I'm not going to tag anyone because I'm so behind in actually taking part so just go ahead and do it if you want to.

  • How did you get into blogging?
Some of the first blogs I started reading were The Dainty Squid and Love, Elycia and I guess they were one of my inspirations to start blogging (I actually had a lil chat with Elycia over email and she gave sweet, young, awkward 15 year old me tips on starting a blog). I spent ages wanting to do it before I actually did, I think I just wanted to share my interests with people and be part of the blogging community. I got "into" it properly about a year ago when people started to comment regularly and I started actually connecting with like-minded internet pals.
  • What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
I would say the highly clichéd "be yourself!!!!", share what you're passionate about and don't try to change yourself or just put out what you think people want to see. It takes a while to find your voice and style so try things out and don't expect to have the blog of your dreams overnight because it takes time! Also, try to take the pressure off, blogging should be fun!
  • What would be your dream campaign?
I don't know??? I may have to go away and think about this.
  • Do you have a plan for your blog?

Nope. Just to keep it to look back on (in embarrassment maybe), I'll show it to my grandchildren so that they can see what good music taste their old granny had.
  • What do you think about rankings?
What are rankings? If it's to do with popularity or comparing yourself to other people then I think don't bother.
I hope you're enjoying the wonderful season that is Autumn, I sure am. I'm also v excited because London trip next week, then the week after I'm going to Disneyland Paris with my family and also, Crimson Peak comes out soon! Del Toro fangirl alert. ALSO my sister and I got tickets to see Ellie Goulding next year (blog title song reference btw).
Life is busy and exciting, this was just a quick update. See you later alligators x
